JETmag is the definitive guide for jobs, education, and training.
After a number of years publishing separate guides, JETmag is back, combining the very best of JET Career Guide, JET Study Guide, and the Careers Expo Workbook. In 2013, JETmag is jam-packed full of content relevant to school leavers – it is the essential life guide for young people and their parents and teachers.
Want options? JETmag has them!
Jobs: All the sectors are covered! From trades to professions, casual jobs to full time work, we explain the workforce in an easy-to-understand manner. JET profiles people in all types of jobs and details career progression for various sectors, from NCEA through to becoming the CEO. Practical advice on how to get a job, such as writing a CV, is also provided. Get ready to be informed and inspired!
Education: What does NCEA mean in the real world? Universities, polytechnics, private training providers, wa-nangas – JETmag pinpoints who the major players are and why you should study with them. Information is also provided about high school subject selection and how this will impact on choices down the line. Non-study options, such as gap years, are also explained.
Training: We cover in depth the five pathways of the Government’s Youth Guarantee programme, providing clear information on the training options within each pathway and the careers onto which they will lead. Apprenticeships, traineeships, and volunteering round out JET’s coverage.
Life: Options after high school aren’t as cut and dried as choosing a course or job. Adjusting to adult life can be tricky. There’s living arrangements, culture shocks, budgeting, student loans and scholarships, and even staying healthy, both physically and mentally. JETmag understands that life is a journey, not a destination.
How do I get a copy of JETmag?
25,500 copies will be circulated nationally to senior secondary students through principals and Year 11–13 deans.
Also look out for JETmags being distributed by the Black Thunder vehicles this year.
JETmag will be available at 2013 career expo events.
Please distribute to your students. This a valuable tool for them to use in considering their next steps.
